Madrid’s new waste container

The City Council has revealed what the new container is going to look like; this container, designed exclusively for a Madrid 360, Will start to appear on the streets this summer.

The City of Madrid has taken a step forward in the efficient and effective management of urban waste by implementing its new large-capacity container model.

The new container is part of the capital’s waste containerisation, collection and transportation contract, whose Lot 4 (containerisation) was awarded to CONTENUR 6 months ago.

Designed by CONTENUR for a Madrid 360º

The design for the new container is based on the 6 basic foundations of the new strategy of Madrid 360.

Healthy: it is designed to have pastel and pleasant colours and figures.

Efficient: the functionality is maximised and it makes better use of public spaces.

Global: thought of by and for everybody, improving the overall aesthetics and standardising the container island.

Smart: control over waste and the waste management services is improved.

Accessible: thought of to make it easier to use for everyone who lives in Madrid, ensuring that the height of the containers is accessible.

Sustainable: minimising the environmental fingerprint during the manufacturing process. Only 100% recycled and recyclable materials will be used.

All in all, a universal and accessible container, aligned with the city’s circular economy strategy (Eco-designed, optimising materials, allowing for the reuse of its components and with the aim of recovering all the materials and the end of the container’s useful working lie so that they can be recycled and included in the new containers’ value chain).

A container designed exclusively for Madrid and that has taken for reference purposes some of the city’s most outstanding elements.

BIGGEST CONTRACT IN EUROPE

With this award CONTENUR, leader in the sector in Spain, and third in Europe, managed to clinch the largest container contract ever to have been awarded in Europe, which reinforces its position on the Continent.

CONTENUR has found that this contract has enhanced its expansion position initiated 3 years ago with its latest strategic plan that, among its main development aspects, included consolidating its leadership in Southern Europe.

This contract, together with the rest of the implementation in the main Spanish cities in recent years, makes CONTENUR the firm with the greatest number of large-capacity containers manufactured and implemented anywhere in the world.

CONTENUR is the market leader because it has spent over 35 years opting for innovation and quality, as regards both its products and its processes, and thanks to its international expansion, which has enabled the company to operate in and from 50 countries.
